Here are a few personal details about Dr. Minkoff that you may not read about elsewhere.
“I started running in 1970 after my Dad had a heart attack. This progressed to marathons after Frank Shorter won at the Olympics in 1972. In 1982, I watched Julie Moss falter near the finish line at the Hawaii Ironman. After seeing her struggle to finish I decided I had to become an Ironman myself. That was February of 1982. In October, I completed my very first Ironman in Kona, Hawaii. It was tough but that’s why I decided to continue to compete. I like to put myself on the edge.”
